SCENE — KAI GIVES JETT ADVICE
Scene Description: A private moment between two brothers who are slowly becoming two different people without knowing it. Kai confronts Jett about being distracted at work and traces it back to Paige, Jett’s girlfriend. What starts as a Vanguard intervention slowly becomes something more personal — Jett opening up about what Paige means to him and Kai listening as a friend before redirecting him back toward duty. The scene lives in the tension between genuine brotherhood and ideological enforcement. Kai loves Jett. He also can't allow Jett to be anything other than what the system needs him to be, but for a moment we see empathy from Kai.
Notes to Composer: This scene has many different emotions. The scene starts off boundaries on both sides. Jett chooses to open up before getting turned down by kai and his ideologies. The music should sit underneath the dialogue quietly — something sparse that reflects the private nature of the conversation. As Jett opens up again after Kai lets him speak, the score can warm slightly — just enough to acknowledge the genuine connection between them. He talks about an oath he made then mentions how he’s confused. The score should feel subtle but hit on Jett’s emotional dilemma. When he starts talking about Paige, the music should be warm, loving. I can hear something with a violin. By the end of the scene the score should leave the audience calm now that Kai could see a part of Jett. They end up laughing at the end, and Jett feels good that he got good advice from Kai.
